      Acquisition

      At Glimcher Group, the acquisition of retail opportunities has been the most important and integral part of the growth of Glimcher Group.

      Our first major acquisition in 1989 added almost 2 million square feet to our retail portfolio. Our primary focus is on community, small box store-anchored, and grocery-anchored shopping centers.

      Development

      Development has been an integral part of Glimcher Group’s growth since our founding. Our relationship with national and regional tenants has led to successful developments throughout the United States

      Throughout our history, our developments have been at least 70% pre-leased prior to starting construction. Through conservative practices in an aggressive business segment, Glimcher Group has been able to create strong and profitable developments. Our success and that of our tenants continues to be win—win.

      Glimcher Brokerage provides a full complement of leasing, tenant representation and property management services to national, regional and local shopping center owners, developers and retailers.       Since its founding in 1984, the Glimcher Group has placed the utmost priority on being an active member of the communities our shopping centers serve. We believe that this strong bond goes beyond our relationship with local governments and extends to our efforts to support local charities & non-profit organizations.

      One of the many ways the Glimcher Group engages with local organizations is by making our facilities available to host events. In the past our shopping centers have hosted a variety of events, including:

      • Car Cruise-ins for Dave Thomas Foundation
      • Donation Center for Local Food Pantries 
      • Staging Area for Local Parades
      •  Traveling Exhibit Honoring the Tuskegee Airmen

      Charitable Causes

      The Glimcher Group makes financial contributions to a number of charitable causes.

      • LED Store & Parking Lot Lighting
      • Low-flow Restroom Fixtures
      • Reflective Cool Roof Systems

      One of our shopping centers, Garfield Commons, is home to one of the greenest McDonald’s locations in North America. The 4,000 ft² restaurant is heated & cooled by geothermal wells and its high-efficiency appliances & LED lights are powered, in part, by the 341 solar panels over the outparcel’s parking lot.
